Milton unveils suite of transparency tools

Jul 14, 2015

Ever wondered how the City of Milton spends your tax dollars? What about how many land disturbance permits are issued month to month? Or maybe how many calls the fire department answers each month?

These answers -- and many more -- are now available to you thanks to Milton's comprehensive approach to transparent and responsive government. This means that 24 hours a day, 365 days a year you have access to Milton's financial data, key measures of success and important zoning cases to be heard.

Here's a look at the tools available to residents:

Financial Transparency powered by OpenGov

Milton has partnered with OpenGov to provide residents and stakeholders with the Financial Transparency Portal designed to bring visibility, openness and accountability to our operations.

This site provides you the opportunity to view, filter and analyze revenue, expense and balance sheet financial data for Milton. You can even download the data for offline analysis.

Quick monthly stats, meetings, bids and project updates

Thanks to the dashboard on the front page of Milton's web site, you can view nearly two dozen key success measures as identified by the city's StrategicPlan. While the stats are updated monthly, each is linked to a four-year analysis to show year over year trends. All data is also available for download. This dashboard holds more than analytical data, it also connects users easily to the full calendar of Milton's meetings and events, a robust road, plan and code project list updated regularly, and the city's advertisements of open bids.

Zoning notices, voting records and more

By signing up for the City of Milton's e-mail newsletter, you not only receive the latest city news and recreation information - you also receive monthly updates tracking important zoning cases, weekly updates of City Council agendas and votes, and much, much more.
