Planning Commission recommends to approve Ebenezer church project

At its meeting Wednesday, the Planning Commission unanimously recommended to approve the two concurrent variance requests related to the Ebenezer church project.

The proposal was recommended "as is" with one small exception -- that deliveries to the facility be limited to between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., ending slightly earlier than initially proposed.

You can watch the meeting in its entirety by clicking HERE.

The Milton Planning Commission's next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, at 6 p.m. in City Hall.

The City of Milton’s Planning Commission will meet Wednesday evening with a limited agenda and new way of doing things due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Like other Milton committees and boards (except for City Council), the Planning Commission did not convene during March, April or May as part of measures to curb the spread of this novel coronavirus. Such meetings resumed this month, albeit with special measures to continue keeping our community safe.

Planning Commission members will meet in City Hall’s Council Chambers starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Citizens who attend the meeting there will find spaced-out seating, enhanced cleaning and other COVID-19 mitigation measures. Still – especially considering that some at-risk groups remain under a “shelter in place” order – people can also watch and “participate” (by offering public comment) via Zoom. The plan is to broadcast the meeting live on the City’s Facebook page,, as well.

The link to this particular Zoom meeting is Details on how to use Zoom to participate can be found below.

In addition to “public comment” and approving minutes from the Commission’s last meeting (on February 26), one item on the agenda relates to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church’s request for a use permit to build an activity center on its 6.1-acre property at 12900 Arnold Mill Road.

The church hopes to build a 23,000 square foot activity center near its existing 5,088-square foot property. The request is for a two-part concurrent variance related to parking, specifically to reduce the required parking and allow it in front of a building.
