The City of Milton’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is comprised of four detectives and a division lieutenant. Lieutenant Jason Griffin is in charge of its day-to-day operations.
Griffin began his career with the Milton Police Department in 2011 as a detective assigned to the DEA/HIDTA Task Force. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in January 2013 and to the rank of Lieutenant in June 2015.
Griffin began his law enforcement career in 2003 with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office in Covington, Georgia. While working at the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, Griffin spent the majority of his career in the Criminal Investigations Division working crimes against person cases.
Griffin obtained his supervision and management certifications through the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council and has a bachelor’s degree from Reinhardt University in Organizational Management and Leadership.
Under his watch, CID is responsible for the investigation of assaults, robberies, fraud and forgery incidents, drug enforcement and property crimes.
This division is responsible for the processing of crime scenes and the retrieval of physical evidence. CID welcomes the public’s assistance in reporting criminal activity and providing information concerning ongoing criminal investigations.
