Councilman and father of three Rick Mohrig’s service to the City of Milton pre-dates incorporation. A member of the City of Milton Organizing Committee, he helped plan for the success of what would become Milton throughout 2006. In 2006 he was elected to serve his first term as City Councilman. He returned to the role in 2013.
After a more than 20-year career at IBM that brought him from Michigan to Milton in the late 90s, Mohrig began his own renovation, remodeling and repair business, which he has successfully owned for 10 years. He also worked for former Milton partner and engineering firm CH2M Hill as a facility operations manager, overseeing six states.
In addition to his time with the City of Milton, Mohrig has also served as: a member of the Bethany Area Residents Association (which he helped form); vice-chair of the Milton Cluster Advisory Council for Fulton County Schools; vice-chair of the Hopewell Middle School Council; chairman of the Local School Advisory Council for Manning Oaks Elementary; President of the Belleterre Homeowners Association; and a committee member serving on Sawnee EMC’s Customer Advisory Council.
He has also volunteered with North Point Community Church’s Inside Out High School Youth Group for the last five years and is a member of the Milton-Windward Rotary.
Mohrig and his wife, Donna, have been married for 27 years and have three children. Daughters Katherine and Jennifer both graduated from Notre Dame, and son Ricky attends Florida State University. Katherine also attained her Master’s Degree from Duke.
Mohrig holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Mich., and an MBA from Michigan State University.
