Those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are nearly finished, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun. As always, we’ve got a positively packed month of informative workshops, fun family events, rewarding charitable work and enriching classes for all ages.
Let’s run down the list real quick:
MADD workshops: On Sunday, Aug. 4 Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will partner with our police department to provide both parents and youth workshops on stopping underage drinking. What’s so cool about the classes is that they take part separately, but end with parents and kids getting together to talk about alcohol and peer pressure.
Better Together paper drive: Through Monday, Aug. 5 Milton’s Better Together community volunteers will collect notebook paper for students in need. It’s thanks to a partnership with North Fulton Community Charities, which does fantastic work in the community year-round.
Have something to donate? Just drop it by City Hall or contact Wayne Boston, who runs Better Together.
Free music classes: Starting Monday, Aug. 5 Milton’s locally owned and operated music education provider, Sperber Music, will offer a series of free classes. With six classes in all offered through Aug. 22 for babies to age 8, there’s should be something fun for all the little ones in your home.
To sign up, just check out the item in the newsletter.
National Night Out: A great little weeknight event, the National Night Out will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Alpharetta’s Wills Park Equestrian Center on Tuesday, Aug. 6. We’re partnering with Alpharetta’s Department of Public Safety to offer the festivities, which include police and fire displays and demonstrations and plenty of free food.
See you there.
Snow Tubing: Our rescheduled snow tubing event will finally happen Saturday, Aug. 10. We’re super excited to offer the first-of-its-kind attraction at Friendship Community Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It’s totally free, and you don’t need a jacket or long pants. Come fit in something special before the kids have to go back to school on Monday.
The Sandlot: On Saturday, Aug. 24 we’ll finish out our summer “Flicks & Flurries” event series with this family classic at Friendship Community Park. If you came out to see the Goonies in June, you know what to expect – a great time with good friends.
This is just a quick rundown of what’s happening this month in Milton. Check out the rest of the newsletter for cool news about book sales, events for teens, and much more.
You know the drill – I’m always available if you want to talk. Just give me a call, send me an e-mail or schedule and meeting. I’d love to hear from you.
