I Want To…

February already?

Monday, February 02, 2015 at 6:30 AM
Here we are, February 2015. It's hard to believe we're already into the second month of the new year, isn't it? Time moves fast when we've got such great things going on in our community.

I'm energized seeing all of our work to build an inclusive, business-friendly, environmentally conscious community. All over this city people are getting together, with and without our help, to create the kind of lives they can be proud of.

This month brings the opening of a beautiful new site for our great city, the Broadwell Pavilion. We heard the request from so many citizens for a food truck and farmer's market event in Milton and we finally have the perfect spot!

I cannot wait for spring to roll around and see these Saturday afternoon market and truck events! It's just one more great place for everyone to gather for fellowship with their neighbors.
This month alone we’re holding or are a part of three public meetings and events all over town – and this is the shortest month of the year. We’ve got Better Together partnering with several other community groups to present an Alzheimer’s Symposium, the Kick-Off Jamboree for Broadwell Pavilion, Milton Grows Green’s paint and chemical collection event, and, of course, one of my favorite annual events – the Mayor’s Run.

And it’s not going to slow down as we move into spring, with Earth Day, the first ever Milton Jubilee, and much more. I’m just glad to be here and have the opportunity to take part in the many fun activities our community promotes – to me, all that activity is proof Milton is doing great.

That’s it for this month. As always, I’ll close by saying your City Hall is always open to your concerns, questions and comments. Be sure to take some time this month to stop by and tell us what you think.

Sincerely,
Mayor Joe Lockwood
