I Want To…

What a busy August

Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 at 1:30 PM

Sometimes, it seems like there isn’t a day at City Hall where there isn’t something new and exciting going on – don’t believe me? Take a look at this month’s newsletter. August is a big month for Milton, and there’s a lot happening in the next 31 days. So I’m just going to jump into everything happening and let you know what to expect:

Better Together Milton: If you want to learn about our community and get “plugged in” with volunteer opportunities, Better Together is a great way to do it! They have three great events this month with something to offer everyone: Milton Literary Group Meeting, Aug. 9, the monthly Better Together Meeting, Aug. 17, and a Business Connection event, Aug. 22.  The business connection events serve as a great way to meet locally owned and operated businesses. Be sure to stop by and get to know your neighbors!

Milton First Responders Golf Invitational: The Milton First Responders Foundation is really getting to work and doing a lot of great things for our community. They are hosting the Milton First Responders Golf Invitational Aug. 31 at The Manor Golf and Country Club. Proceeds will go to the Milton First Responders Foundation to provide resources to those who make the City of Milton a safe place to live, work and visit.  A big “thank you” to all that they do for our community.

Look through the rest of the newsletter, and you’ll see where we’ve unveiled a new set of transparency tools that give you 24/7 access to our financial data, zoning cases and more. You’ll also see we have a slew of fall sports programs available, an update on Bell Memorial Park, and information on an upcoming firearm safety seminar with the Police Department.

Like I said, it’s busy. There’s something for everyone here in Milton. So let’s all take part and make this the best community in the nation.

And, one last thing -- let’s all give a big welcome to the brand new Milton Library (which opened July 16). What a beautiful addition to our community. To see more about the opening, and see what a great group Friends of the Milton Library are, check out a video from the opening on our YouTube channel.

Give me a call or stop by my office sometime to let me know what you think about how we’re doing in Milton – we’re here for you.

Sincerely,

Joe Lockwood
