*CPR Saturdays are currently suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please contact the Milton Fire-Rescue Department's administration at 678-242-2541 or fdinfo@cityofmiltonga.us with questions.*

The Milton Fire-Rescue Department traditionally holds "CPR Saturday" on the first Saturday of each month at Fire Station No. 43, located at 750 Hickory Flat Road.

This program informs participants about the CPR Anytime line of self-directed learning products, which was developed to increase CPR knowledge and awareness among the general public and/or for those who do not traditionally attend CPR courses. Such education is valuable, and potentially life-saving, considering:

  • Almost 80 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur at home and are witnessed by a family member.
  • Only 6.4% of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive because the vast majority of those witnessing the arrest are people who do not know how to perform CPR.

CPR Anytime can help increase survival rates in communities across the country, allowing people with the kits to share lifesaving skills with their loved ones. Studies have shown that for every single CPR Anytime kit used for training, an average of 2.5 people learn how to perform CPR.

The American Heart Association's CPR Anytime personal learning programs include Family & Friends CPR Anytime and Infant CPR Anytime. It also offers Heartsaver AED Anytime, a credentialed program that can be used in worksites to teach CPR skills and how to use an automated external defibrillator.

In addition, Milton is a “Heart Ready City.” This designation is given to cities committed to community-based programs that improve their residents' "Cardiac Chain of Survival." CPR Saturday is a large part of that commitment. Milton also maintains this distinction through community CPR programs and other public outreach initiatives, including:

  • Enhanced 911
  • Emergency Medical Dispatch System
  • CPR/AED training
  • AED promotion
  • AED tracking
  • Fire-Rescue Department responders AED equipped
  • Law Enforcement Units AED equipped
  • Advanced Life Support services
  • Outcome Measurement

CPR Saturday is open to Milton community members 12-years and older. If you have any questions about this educational initiative or any other program, please contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at (678) 242-2541 or fire.marshal@cityofmiltonga.us.

All CPR Saturday attendees receive a certificate of completion. Classes -- which are limited to 10 people -- typically last about one hour.

The City of Milton Fire-Rescue Department also offers free CPR classes to large groups, including churches, homeowners associations, social clubs, businesses and various organizations. Upon request, firefighters can visit your group with CPR practice kits and share vital information that you may someday use to save a life. For more information or to schedule a class for your group, please contact Fire Administrative Assistant Jennifer Stephens at 678-242-2541 or jennifer.stephens@cityofmiltonga.us.

CPR Certification courses can be taken by contacting the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Please visit these organization's Web sites to find a course near you.
