The Milton Fire Marshal’s Office focuses on life-safety initiatives beyond the traditional fire suppression activities of the department.
Alex Fortner serves as Milton's Fire Marshal, spearheading the City's fire safety education, inspections, plan review and fire investigations efforts.
Fortner brings more than a decade of public safety experience to this position having been certified as a Peace Officer, Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector, Fire Safety Educator, Fire/Life Safety Plans Reviewer and Emergency Manager. Prior to assuming his current position, he'd been Milton's Assistant Fire Marshal (starting in 2014) in addition to working in multiple capacities within Milton Fire-Rescue's Operations Division.
Besides his many professional certifications, Fortner earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Reinhardt University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from the Reinhardt University McCamish School of Business and an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from Gainesville State College.
Fortner serves as the Milton Fire-Rescue liaison for the Milton First Responders Foundation, and also belongs to the Georgia State Firefighters Association and Georgia Fire Investigators Association. He can be reached at email@example.com.
