The Milton Fire Marshal’s Office focuses on life-safety initiatives beyond the traditional fire suppression activities of the department.
Alex Fortner serves as the Fire Marshal and brings more than a decade of public safety experience to the City of Milton.
The Fire Marshal’s office is responsible for fire safety education, inspections, plan review, and fire investigations. Fortner is certified as a Peace Officer, Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector, Fire Safety Educator, Fire/Life Safety Plans Reviewer, and Emergency Manager. Fortner has served as the Assistant Fire Marshal since 2014, and has functioned in multiple capacities within the Operations Division of Milton Fire-Rescue.
In addition to his professional certifications, Fortner earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Reinhardt University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from the Reinhardt University McCamish School of Business, and an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from Gainesville State College.
Fortner serves as the Milton Fire-Rescue liaison for the Milton First Responders Foundation, and is also a member of the Georgia State Firefighters Association and Georgia Fire Investigators Association.
