Revenue Coordinator

Starting Pay: $18.88 per hour

The City of Milton is looking for a highly qualified individual to serve as our Revenue Coordinator.

This position performs a variety of administrative-clerical work involving revenue collections related to taxes, license fees, rentals and delinquent accounts receivable. In addition, this position is responsible for receiving and processing business and alcohol license applications; reviewing applications for completeness and accuracy; assisting businesses in the completion of forms; receiving and responding to a variety of inquiries; interpreting business tax laws and regulations; assisting with gathering and analyzing data, preparing daily and monthly, and special reports; reconciling transactions; daily public contact with tax payers; record keeping; and accounting clerical duties involving financial record keeping.

Typical duties include:

  • Performs finance related procedures including receipting payments into finance software from various sources, balancing each day’s deposits, including deposits from other City departments, and make electronic deposits into bank;
  • Assists customers at the front counter, through email and by phone in answering questions, providing support, and assisting as necessary;
  • Collects taxes and initiates refunds process; 
  • Negotiates and monitors payment plans when necessary;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED; and three (3) years’ experience working in a collection office environment; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications; and Must possess a valid State driver’s license.

Preferred qualifications: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; knowledge of City codes and ordinances dealing with licensing fees, occupational tax and special assessments; knowledge of general business practices and accounting principles; ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment to make decisions based on facts, information available and applicable codes/ordinances; ability to exercise initiative and independence in setting work priorities and completing assignments ; knowledge of the practices and methods of accounts receivable collections; clear, concise written and verbal communication skills; and strong inter-personal relationship skills.
