Parks and Rec board discusses adult soccer program at first meeting in months

Post Date:06/19/2020

Milton's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board held a successful meeting on Thursday evening. Members convened in City Hall, and the meeting was also streamed on Zoom. (For technical reasons, it did not appear on the City's Facebook page.)

Milton’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will hold its first meeting in months Thursday evening, with members convening in person while allowing residents to also participate over Zoom.

As with recent City Council meetings and Tuesday’s Board of Zoning Appeals meeting, members of PRAB – as the committee is known – will convene in City Hall’s Council Chambers tonight. The meeting should begin at 6:30 p.m. with a number of coranvirus-related safety measures in place, such as spaced-out seating to allow for social distancing, masks made available to all, and extra cleaning measures.

Citizens can attend the meeting at City Hall, or they can watch and participate from a phone or computer. For those wishing to participate virtually, Thursday’s PRAB meeting will be streamed on the Zoom conference app; the link to this specific meeting is (Scroll down for detailed instructions on how to participate via Zoom.) People can also watch the PRAB meeting live on the City’s Facebook page,

To be transparent and make it easier for people to follow along a home, City staff have put together a preview to summarize what topics will be discussed.

After offering citizens the opportunity to make a “public comment,” the Board will get updates from its members about Milton sports program providers – specifically Hopewell Baseball, boys and girls lacrosse, NAFL Football, Halftime Sports Basketball, the Milton Mustangs Swim Team, Milton Tennis, and arts programming.

The Board will also discuss the possibility of offering an adult soccer program through the City of Milton in partnership with Milton-based Georgia Rush Soccer.

Lastly, City staff plan to give reports on the Parks and Recreation Department's actions and plans amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
